My name is Rob Arthurs and I’ve been climbing for 20 years. I’m from Vancouver, BC and am currently living in New York City. I have spent most of my life adventuring in the outdoors. I climb rocks, ice and mountains, wherever in the world they may be.
My reason for creating this site is two-fold. Initially I was thinking about making my own personal bucket list to show and share with friends and get their reaction. Then, since I work in technology, I thought about incorporating the social element and gathering the climbing community’s input so that the bucket list wouldn’t just be mine; but would be one that is validated by climbers and shared amongst us.
I don’t think anyone has really tried tackling a global, diverse, community driven “must do” climbing list – so let’s give it a shot. I realize that bucket lists can be intensely personal, and for that reason I want to limit the final list to 50 routes. It’s small enough that people can take the list and use it as the core for their own bucket lists.
I’d like to thank Shane Todhunter, Conny Amelunxen, Jamie Chong and Ben Carlson for getting me started.
